Learn about applying shared prep stations to shared menus, Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), and item routing.

In this Article:

Apply a Shared Prep Station to a Shared Menu

If your restaurant group uses shared or Master-level prep stations, you will only be able to see and apply the Master-level prep station, not the location-specific version. This is true for both Advanced Properties and within Edit Menus

To learn more, see Manage Prep Stations With Toast Multilocation Management.

Note: If you’re viewing only one location in the user interface (UI), or the menu information has a version for a specific location, the top restaurant groups prep stations will still be the only options to choose from.

Apply a Shared Prep Station via a Kitchen Display Screen

Unlike when prep stations are applied to the menu, when prep stations are applied via the KDS, the location-specific version(s) will be visible for you to select. This is why it is important to clearly label any location-specific prep stations you create so you can ensure the right prep stations are visible at the correct locations.

Apply a Shared Prep Station to an Item Routed to a Specific Prep Station

Item routing allows you to apply either the shared or Master-level prep station, or location-specific versions in both the Reroute From and the Reroute To sections.
