Contact SimplyInsured first. If a deduction is missing, SimplyInsured can help set it up for your company. SimplyInsured may refer you back to Toast Payroll for a one-time manual deduction that may be needed.
If so, navigate to Benefits > Add new deduction. You'll download and fill out a New Deduction Code Request form. Select Open chat to submit this to us and once we process your form, you'll be able to apply this new benefit as a deduction.
If an employee does not have enough funds to cover a deduction, you will not recoup the total premium for the benefit. You may decide to to the next payroll to recoup the shortfall.
These deductions will contain SimplyInsured in the deduction name on their paystub. Employers can view each employee's monthly premium (i.e. deduction) in the SimplyInsured portal. The Per Pay Period Employee Payroll Audit Report should be pulled for a detailed overview of employee payroll information. This is found by navigating to Reports > Standard and searching for the name of the report.
When using SimplyInsured, your Form 1095-C/1094-C data will be automatically sent to Toast Payroll to be filed. The form will only be filed for the period of time you have used both SimplyInsured and Toast Payroll, so if you have used SimplyInsured before Toast Payroll, you will need to import that information manually into your Toast Payroll database to be included.
You will be asked in SimplyInsured if you are an ALE. "Hours worked" information will be sent to SimplyInsured who can then trigger the invite process for employees that meet the full-time "hours worked" criteria. You might also select Find out if you are ALE on the right side of Benefits > View and manage health benefits.
SimplyInsured will handle everything up to filing. If you identify as an ALE, ACA lookback will use 12 months and a standard 1 month administration period. Once it's time to file, SimplyInsured will generate ACA filing information, send it to Toast Payroll, and we will file on your behalf.

SimplyInsured will automatically calculate lookback using only hours worked from Toast Payroll timesheets for SimplyInsured customers.
An employee can be removed in one of two ways: they may be in Toast Payroll or you can remove access to their benefits plan within SimplyInsured.
To remove access to their benefits plan, navigate to Benefits > View and manage health benefits and select the relevant FEIN in the Active benefits tile. Once you log into SimplyInsured, you'll see a list of employees on your dashboard and you may remove their access to benefits by following these steps:
This is done through the SimplyInsured portal via Toast Payroll once you've signed up for a plan. Navigate to Benefits > View and manage health benefits and select an FEIN from the Active benefits tile. You can manually invite the employee to the relevant plan by following the instructions in (external link).
This is done through a Broker of Record Switch which is accessible through Benefits > Connect an existing plan in Toast Payroll.

If you do not want to use SimplyInsured and/or you want to offer your employees benefits other than medical/dental/vision/life insurance, you will need to manage and enroll in these plans externally. You may continue to add deductions for your employees manually.
