Redeem Loyalty Points Through a Credit Card Linked To a Loyalty Account

Note: At this time, if rewards are used to pay a check entirely, a guest cannot tip with a credit card.

When your guests pay for an order in-store with a credit card linked to their loyalty account, they will automatically be prompted to redeem their reward if they have enough points.

Learn more about how a credit card gets linked to a loyalty account in Linking a Credit Card or Debit Card To a Loyalty Account.

  2. A pop-up window will appear where your staff can look up the guest's rewards account number using the following:
    • Key In: manually enter the guest's 16-digit number. The guest can find this number on their E-Rewards Card.
    • Scan: Use the tablet's camera or your scanner to scan the customer's QR code.
    • Swipe: If the loyalty account is linked to a physical gift card, you can swipe it to look up the account.
    • Lookup: Search by the customer's name, phone number, or email.
  3. Once your staff has located the account, if the customer has enough points to redeem for a discount, they will see the option to do so. Select Redeem to redeem the listed reward for the guest.

Note:

  • When a guest decides to redeem their points, they are forced to redeem all rewards account points less than or equal to the total balance due on the check. They are not able to elect how many of their points are used.
  • Once the points redemption threshold is reached and redeemed once, the points balance must reach the threshold again before redemption is allowed again. For example, if the redemption threshold is 100 points, and a redeem transaction only uses 50 of those points, the total points balance must reach 100 points again before the next redemption is available.

Guest John Smith has 85 points available and has the option to redeem $8.50 in rewards points to pay the $5 check for a small signature nachos.

To adjust a guest’s rewards account balance, you can navigate to Reports > Marketing > Rewards accounts in Toast Web.
