The Today tab will be the first thing employees see in the app if they have Toast Payroll and/or Scheduling (Sling by Toast). Check out the features it offers here.
| To download the MyToast app and log in, read The MyToast App: Account. Learn about the other tabs in the MyToast app by viewing the articles in the Additional Resources section. |
Note: This tab is only visible to employees who work at restaurants with Toast Payroll and/or Scheduling (Sling by Toast).
In short, the Today tab shows you everything you need to know or do before working your next shift, all in one place. For instance, what does your day look like? What's happening at the restaurant today? This is a dynamic tab, so it will change day to day, even after your shift. If you have any notifications on this screen, they will be marked with an orange dot if they're unread. Tap a notification to open it and potentially take an action, such as picking up a shift.
In the image below, Lou has an upcoming shift today. The top of the screen offers the clock-in and clock-out times, plus their job, location, and the employees who Lou will be working with. Notifications will appear towards the bottom; select View all if necessary. Select the area with the shaded background to open the shift's details.
Since your restaurant uses Sling by Toast, you may also see a tile called This week's feedback on the Today tab. This represents the total number of thumbs up and thumbs down that you and other employees have rated the shifts from the current work week. The numbers will refresh once a new workweek starts.
After selecting the shaded background, your shift's details appear, which come from the Shifts tab. You can view more information, like if you have a break during this shift or any notes that were added here. You can also select Offer shift. Visit for more information on shift details and offering shifts.
Once you've clocked out of your shift, check the Today tab to quickly view how long you worked and the amount you earned. Tap this top area of the screen to be brought to your completed shift's details. You'll also find more information on your shift details screen depending on what Toast products your restaurant uses.
There's a new tile on the Today tab for restaurants who use Sling by Toast. Starting five minutes after you clock out, you'll be able to select the How was your shift? tile to open a thumbs up/thumbs down survey about the most recent shift you finished (within the last 24 hours). After selecting a thumbs up or thumbs down, you can optionally add a comment before submitting. Every employee on MyToast will be able to see the total thumbs up/thumbs down votes for the entire workweek, but any comment responses are sent to your management team and are not anonymous. Managers will require the 3.12 Shift Review to see these responses.
There are two other unique views on the Today tab. The first screenshot below appears when you do not have a shift scheduled for that day. Tap View open shifts to check for any shifts you can pick up. Additionally, if you're in the middle of an approved leave or time off, the Today tab will show the days you are off. You can still select View open shifts to grab an open shift if you like.
If you would like to purchase your own health insurance benefits on the open marketplace, you can search for a plan via Stride on the MyToast app. Select the Stride tile on this tab or access the . This offering is only available between their open enrollment period from November 2025 to January 2026. You will manage your contributions and billing separately from MyToast and Toast Payroll.
