Depending on which Toast products your restaurant uses, employees can use the Shifts tab of the MyToast app to see details about past shifts, check if they clocked out, view their upcoming schedule, confirm wages and tips from a shift, and more. Different Toast products affect what you see in the app and you can check with your manager to confirm. See the sections below for a closer look.
All users will be able to access the following by selecting the Shifts tab in the MyToast app:
Use the date selector at the top in gray to move between weeks. Select the > caret icon on a completed shift to display more information about it. Keep in mind that this number does not reflect any tip policies your restaurant manages outside of Toast. Each tile represents a single day, but two tiles will appear within the same day if you work shifts at more than one location.

When you tap into a tile for a previous shift, you may see an optional survey you can complete. Starting five minutes after you clock out, tap How was your shift? to open a short thumbs-up/thumbs-down survey about the most recent shift you finished (within the last 24 hours). After selecting a thumbs up or thumbs down, you can choose to add a comment before submitting. Any comment responses are sent to your management team and are not anonymous. Managers will require the 3.12 Shift Review to view these responses by selecting the tile in the Shifts tab.
To help build trust and visibility into your pay, the MyToast app has introduced Time Entry Shift Badges. These labels appear whenever a time entry is modified, such as when a manager adjusts your hours or the system automatically clocks you out. These badges serve as a helpful guide to your shift history and a quick shortcut to chat with your leadership team if you need more information.
When a time entry is flagged, you will see a badge with a short explanation:
If you notice a badge on your shift and need more information, MyToast makes it easy to get answers right away. Simply tap the Start a chat with your manager call-to-action on the time entry to start a conversation in Team Chat. This direct access allows you to resolve any discrepancies or clarify your hours instantly, ensuring your pay records are always accurate without needing to wait for your next scheduled shift.

If your restaurant uses Toast Tips Manager, you'll see all the information above plus an extra feature. Since Tips Manager involves a tip pooling and/or a tipping-out policy, you'll see more information in your completed shift details. If you're involved in more than one tip pool during a shift, you'll see a breakdown for each tip pool. Note: The Shifts, , , and possibly the tab will appear to restaurants/employees who use Toast Tips Manager.
From the Shifts tab, select the > caret icon on a completed shift. Your earned tips will be displayed in a different way than they were above. Notice the Happy hour tips and Dinner tips policies applied to this example employee below? Both of those tiles have their own > caret icon to select.

Selecting a > caret icon on the previous screen opens up your personal Tips Receipt. A Tips Receipt is a breakdown of your restaurant's tip pool(s) that you were involved in that allows you to see the math behind your tip amount(s).

If your restaurant uses Toast Payroll, you will also have access to your hourly wage information in the Shifts tab. The top tile of a shift's details will multiply your total hours worked by your wage rate or overtime rate, if applicable. You'll be able to see all five tabs Shifts, , , , and the tab.
Note: Toast Tips Manager is not present for the example employee in the screenshots below, but if your restaurant uses Tips Manager, check out the Tips Receipt features in the section above.

This version of the Shifts tab offers several scheduling features that are only available with the Sling by Toast Scheduling module. For instance, your shifts will be color-coded by job and you'll be able to see your upcoming schedule, view your teammates working alongside you in each future shift, and get personalized reminders for your shifts. With (Sling by Toast), you can also swap shifts directly from the app. MyToast users who use the Scheduling module will see all five tabs in MyToast: , Shifts, , , and .
You can even set up notifications for your upcoming shifts and request time off for future days you want to take off of work (subject to restaurant settings and manager approval). Navigate to Account > Settings to enable these alerts and request time off. Learn more by reading .
With Scheduling, there are three different pages at the top of the Shifts tab, so let's start on My schedule. You'll see your past shifts as described above, but you'll also see future shifts. Select a future shift to view its details.

On a future shift's details, you can select the Team tile to see which employees will be working the shift with you. You can also select Offer shift to see if another employee will pick up your shift for you. You'll be able to make the shift open to all employees with that job by selecting the top tile. Otherwise, select a single employee to offer your shift to. Once you've offered your shift, two things must happen before you no longer own the shift:
Up until you don't own the shift anymore, you can select Cancel offer to remove this request. Once these two items have taken place, you will be notified via the Today tab and a push notification.
Swipe over to Full schedule, where you can check out who is scheduled on a given day (depending on your restaurant's settings). Each tile will list the employee's name, their assigned job, and the hours they're scheduled for.

Lastly, swipe over to Open shifts. This is where you can pick up any shifts released by other employees or any open shifts that your management team has put up themselves, but only for the job(s) you are assigned to. They will be listed by day and color-coded by job. Tap the > caret icon on any open shift and select Pick up shift. Depending on your restaurant's configuration, you may still need manager approval before you own the shift. If your manager has not yet approved the shift, you can select Undo to cancel your shift pick up.

The new Employee Shift Sentiment Survey in the MyToast app makes it easier for employees to share feedback right after their shift. This feature is a simple way for employees to let managers know how they feel day to day, helping managers stay in tune with your employees' morale.
After each shift, employees will receive a push notification prompting them to complete the Shift Sentiment Survey. With just a few taps, they can quickly share how they felt about their shift by selecting a thumbs up or thumbs down, adding a short comment for context, and including optional tags for more detail.
Since Toast pulls this information from Toast Web reports and Toast Tips Manager, these totals should never differ unless you use to pass along card processing fees to employees. The figures may be different due to tip withholding affecting an employee's tips rather than their gratuity.
