Log in to a Toast Product or Device

Learn how to log in to any Toast platform or device.

Log in to Toast Web

You will use your Toast Web account credentials (email & password) to log in to your restaurant’s back-end.

 

  1. Navigate to https://www.toasttab.com/login.
  2. Enter your email address and select Continue.
  3. Now enter your password and select Continue. You may need to check the I’m not a robot checkbox for a reCAPTCHA.
  4. If you have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled for your account, you may need to verify your login with a text message or an authenticator app.


Note: Toast will never contact you to ask for passwords, one-time passcodes, or other sensitive information. Log in to Toast Now, Toast Tables, or MyToast

You will use your Toast Web account credentials (email & password) to log in to the Toast Now, Toast Tables, or MyToast apps if you have the appropriate permissions and your restaurant uses those features.

Log in to the Toast POS App on Your Terminal

You will use your Toast Web account credentials (email & password) to log in to the Toast POS app on a terminal, KDS, or handheld device.

Logging in to the Toast POS app is necessary after the app has been completely closed (force closed) or a device has been restarted, shut down, or factory reset. 


If you don’t have Toast Web access, another user at your restaurant will need to enter their email and password before you can enter your POS access code to clock in or start taking orders.

Use Your POS Access Code to Clock In and Take Orders

After a user has logged in to the Toast POS app by entering their Toast Web email address & password, the person who wants to punch in and take orders & payments on the POS will need to enter their 6-8 digit POS access code (also known as a passcode or PIN) on the device. Hourly employees who have not clocked in yet will be met with a clock-in screen whereas salaried employees will proceed directly to the Toast POS app.


The POS access code that is entered will determine what features of the POS that you have access to (e.g. if a server enters their POS access code, they will not have access to the manager functions that are not part of their permissions, even if a manager logged in to the Toast POS app with their email & password).

Log in to Toast Payroll

Toast is in the process of simplifying logins for Toast Payroll users - if you’ve already completed universal login or you've set a password for your Toast Payroll account, then you’ll use the same email address and password for Toast Web and Toast Payroll. If you haven’t created a universal login yet, you may have a different email address & password that you use for Toast Payroll.

 

  1. Navigate to https://payroll.toasttab.com/sign-in.
  2. Enter your email address and select Next.
  3. Enter your password and select Continue.
  4. Most users will be logged in at this point.
    • If you have a separate login for Toast Payroll and you belong to more than one Toast Payroll database, you may also need to enter your company code to log in.

First Login to Toast Payroll

New hires will receive a "welcome" email from Toast Payroll. The email may land in a Spam/Junk folder, so search for noreply@toasttab.com if you need to locate this email. Direct managers and HR+ users can resend an "invite" email if the "welcome" email gets lost or misplaced.


Note: Star or save this email for future use. Many individuals do not log in to the Toast Payroll system often and forgetting login credentials is common.

  1.  Select Log in at the bottom to navigate to the Toast Payroll login page.
  2. Enter a unique password and confirm it. The password must include one letter, one number, one special character, and must be at least eight characters long. 
  3. Select Register to complete the registration process. Jot down this password in a secure location for later use.
  4. The login page will refresh, allowing a user to enter their email address and new password to access the site. Use these directions to complete your employee onboarding steps where you can enter your social security number (SSN), fill out your Form W-4, and complete your direct deposit information. This is vital information Toast needs to pay you electronically or produce a year-end document like a Form W-2.
    1. If the login page does not refresh after setting your password, navigate to payroll.toasttab.com to log in and finish your onboarding steps.

Log in to xtraCHEF by Toast

Your xtraCHEF and Toast Web accounts are linked if you created them with the same email address, so many users will use the same account credentials for both platforms. In this case, you can log in to Toast Web and select xtraCHEF from the left-hand navigation menu.


Alternatively, you can log in to xtraCHEF directly by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to https://app.sa.toasttab.com/.
  2. Enter your email address and select Continue.
  3. Enter your password and select Continue.

Log in to the xtraCHEF App

  1. Download the xtraCHEF app from the Google Play Store on an Android device or the Apple App Store on an iOS device.
  2. Open the app. You will first be prompted to enter your email address. Then select Log in.
  3. The app will now prompt you to enter your password. Select Log in once more.
  4. If you do not have multiple tenants (accounts) associated with your email address, you will skip this step. If you have more than one tenant in xtraCHEF associated with your email address, xtraCHEF will prompt you to select the tenant you wish to view. Selecting a tenant will automatically sign you in.

Log in to Sling by Toast

You can access your company’s linked Sling accounts directly from Toast Web.

 

  1. Follow the same steps to log in to Toast Web.
  2. Select Scheduling from the left-hand navigation menu.
  3. Select Launch Sling.
