To allow check-level discounts to be applied to the purchase of gift cards, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Payments > Payment methods > Payment options in Toast Web.
2. In the Gift Cards section of the Payment Options page, find the Allow gift cards to be discounted? setting.
3. Select Yes, allow check level discounts to be applied to gift cards.
4. Save and publish your changes.

Toast also recommends creating a specific item-level discount for discounted gift cards. For example, if you frequently donate gift cards, you'll want to create an item-level discount called something like "Gift Cards - Donation" so you can better track it in reporting (as it won't be included in the sales reports). In order to track these discounted cards, you'll need to use the Discounts report. You can find more information on that report here: . 

Note: If you use Toast Loyalty and set gift cards to accept discounts, any customer enrolled in your rewards program will also be able to purchase gift cards with rewards points.

If you are looking to fully comp a gift card, you can create a payment option in Toast Web called Gift Card Comp. This payment option can then be used to comp the cost of the gift card and close the check. For more instructions, see this Support Center article: and .
