Toast Online Ordering Pro: Menu Page Configuration

Personalize what your guests will see on your Toast Online Ordering page using the the Online Ordering Pro menu page configuration. 

Toast Online Ordering Pro’s Menu Page Configuration allows you to customize the restaurant information you show to guests. 

Before getting started, access Toast Online Ordering Pro by following these steps:
 

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Takeout & Delivery >  Branding & customization > Branding & customization configuration.
  2. This will bring you to the Toast Online Ordering Pro home page, where you can configure your branded site. The top window provides Toast Online Ordering Pro information and a view of how your branded site could look on a computer and a mobile cell phone:

Add Custom Navigation Links to Your Toast Online Ordering Pro Site

Set up specific links for easier navigation on your Online Ordering site. From the 3-dot drop-down menu, select how or if each setting is displayed. Make sure to Publish all changes after making them. 
 

  • Call us - Allows guests to call the restaurant with one click.
  • Location and Hours - Appears at the bottom of the Online Ordering page. This includes all locations in the group and their hours of operation. 
  • Buy Gift Cards - Guests can quickly navigate to purchase gift cards from your restaurant.
  • Add my own link - Add a custom link to the top of your location’s online ordering page.

Customize Footer for Your Toast Online Ordering Pro Site

Show or hide which restaurant information is available to guests at the footer of your Online Ordering page. 
 

  • Hours - Hours configured in the Online Ordering Schedule section of Online Ordering set up  - displayed at the footer of the Online Ordering Pro page. This is a way to feature restaurant hours of operation if different from online ordering hours.
  • Locations - Other locations that are part of the brand- for multi-unit owners, this is a way to remove any other locations under the same brand from their footer section on the Online Ordering Pro page. 
  • Menu Link - This allows you to display a menu link at the footer of the Online Ordering Pro page for each location within your brand.
  • Online Ordering Link- This allows you to display an online ordering link at the footer of the Online Ordering Pro page for each location within your brand. Selecting this will take the guest to the specific location’s Online Ordering page.
  • Social Links - This allows you to display any social media links (added in the above section) at the footer of the Online Ordering Pro page under each location.

  • Update Location Hours - This brings you to the Online Ordering hours page to update the location's hours.
  • Update Location Name - This brings you to the Restaurant information page in order to update the location name.

  • Popular Items - This turns popular items on and off for your Online Ordering page. 
  • Locations Map - You can have a map showing the placement of the restaurant, visible or not.

Configure Time-Based Ordering Rules for Your Toast Online Ordering Pro Site

 

To access the menu builder experience where the new Online Ordering Pro time-based rules (item-based minimum lead time and pre-order) exist, MLM customers need to navigate to the legacy menu item page for the item you would like to add the rule to, then will need to select the new item page hyperlink in the blue banner at the top of the page.

 

Item-Based Minimum Lead Times

Sell menu items on online ordering with an enforceable minimum lead time. For example, Spicy Ramen must be ordered 24 hours in advance. Online ordering guests will be guided to update their pickup or delivery time to add these menu items to their cart.

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Menus > Menu management > Menu manager. 
  2. Expand your menus to select the name of the Item you'd like to edit.
  3. The item settings panel will appear on the right side of the screen. Select the expand icon in the top right corner to open the full item details page. 
  4. Scroll down to Time-based ordering rules
  5. Select the +Add rule button.

  6. Add your time, minimum lead time, to How many hours in advance?.
  7. Select Save.

  8. Save and publish any changes.
    1. If you would like to make changes to your set Minimum Lead Time:
      1. To edit the time, select the pencil icon, add your updated time, and select Save.
      2. To remove it, select the circle icon.
  9. Be sure to Save and publish any changes.

Once published, guests will see the following on your online ordering page and will be guided to update their pickup or delivery time before adding the item to their cart:

Menu Item Pre-Orders for Your Toast Online Ordering Pro Site

To configure menu item pre-orders, follow the steps below:
 

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Menus > Menu management > Menu manager. 
  2. Expand your menus to select the name of the Item you'd like to edit.
  3. The item settings panel will appear on the right side of the screen. Select the expand icon in the top right corner to open the full item details page. 
  4. Scroll down to Time-based ordering rules.
  5. Select Pre order and enter:
    1. Order range - when the item can be ordered from your Online Ordering menu.
    2. Pickup range - when the item can be picked up by a guest or delivery driver.
  6. Select Save. Note that changes take effect immediately.

Guests will see that this item can only be picked up or delivered on the set days.

Enable Featured Menu Items and Upsell Recommendations for Your Toast Online Ordering Pro Site

To enable these features, navigate to Takeout & Delivery > Branding & customization > Branding & Customization Configuration in Toast Web.

 

Note: 

  • If our online menu has more than 1500 items, you might notice a small change in how you navigate.
  • Instead of the usual menu navigation settings, you'll see a Category dropdown on the Online Ordering page. From there, you can check the boxes next to the menus and menu groups you want to see, then apply the filter. This helps ensure a smooth experience with our extensive selection!

Featured Menu Items 

Note: You can add up to five featured items with images in Toast Web.

 

As an Online Ordering Pro subscriber, you can utilize the Customize feature to select up to three menu items to be featured on top of your online ordering page (per location).

  1. Ensure that the Featured Menu Items is toggled to On
  2. Select Customize (Recommended).
  3. Select the Menu Items drop-down to select up to three menu items.
  4. Publish changes.

Upsell Recommendations

Specify which upsell items appear when items from a given menu group are in the cart. For example, you can customize by menu group so that one set of upsells is displayed when a sandwich is in the cart, and another is displayed when a salad is in the cart.

 

Upsell recommendations will appear if they are not already present in the cart. If an item specified as an upsell recommendation is already in the cart, we will not show it and cycle through to the next indicated upsell recommendation. 
 

  1. Ensure that Upsell recommendations is toggled to On
  2. Select Customize (Recommended).
  3. Select the Menu group, then select the Recommendation.
  4. Publish changes.

 Guest View During Checkout on Your Toast Online Ordering Pro Site.

When checking out, guests select Express checkout with Toast or Checkout as guest. The guest will enter, review, and/or edit their personal and payment info on the next screen before submitting the order.
