Three Methods to Manage Benefits With Toast

SimplyInsured

Deductions-Only

All Toast Payroll customers (Essential or Pro) can use the deductions-only benefit management system. If you are happy with your current enrollment process, you can continue to maintain your benefit elections externally by recording benefit directly deductions in Toast Payroll.

 

To utilize this option:

 

  • If you are new to Toast Payroll, work with your Onboarding Consultant to add the correct deduction codes to your system.
  • If you're already a Toast Payroll customer, but are configuring your externally-managed benefits for the first time, fill out this form for any applicable deduction codes that need to be created in your system (e.g. medical, vision, dental) and send it to us via the blue chat dot in the lower-right corner of any Toast Payroll page.
  • Once the correct benefit deduction codes are in your Toast Payroll system, you will apply the relevant recurring deductions to eligible employees.

 

This method does not: 

 

  • Track employee benefit eligibility and enrollment in Toast Payroll. To do so, you would have to compare your employee's deductions to your external benefits provider.
  • Calculate the per pay period deduction amount that you would need to pay your benefits broker or plan.

Classic Benefits Module (Legacy Customers Only)

The Toast Payroll Classic Benefits module is an enrollment platform that will allow employees to make their benefit elections within Toast Payroll Pro.

 

The Classic Benefits module can help you:

 

  • Record employee benefit elections
  • Generate recurring benefit deductions on payroll
  • Host yearly open enrollment

 

At this time, the Toast Payroll Classic Benefits module does not include:

 

  • EDI (integration) feeds to insurance carriers
  • Brokerage services
  • COBRA administration
  • Benefits administration
